Sun & Age Spots Giving you the Blues?
IPL Treatments are your solution!
As we age, in addition to wrinkles many of us start seeing those pesky sun and age spots pop up- especially if you are an outside kind of person. So, what do you do about them? At Vanish Skin Aesthetics and Laser Tattoo Removal, we often utilize our IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology to target the color in those dark spots and help break them up.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), also known as a photofacial, uses light energy to target and address sun spots and other skin conditions, offering a non-invasive way to improve skin tone and texture.
How IPL Works & Its Benefits
Targets Pigment
IPL is absorbed by melanin (the pigment in sun spots) and blood vessels, is broken down to smaller pieces, and eliminated through the lymphatic/immune systems.
Improves Skin Texture and Tone
Since this process helps reduce the appearance of sun spots and redness, it results in a more even skin tone and smoother texture. This is especially noticeable after a few treatments.
Relatively No Downtime
Other than basic care like giving the skin a break from the sun for a bit, IPL treatments typically require no downtime.
Minimally Invasive
Since IPL targets the discolorations, it doesn’t injure the surface of the skin.
Conditions IPL Can Treat
Sun spots and age spots, broken surface capillaries (spider veins,) nevus, rosacea, fine lines and wrinkles, and general uneven skin tone and texture. What to Expect During and After Treatment
During the procedure
You may experience a warm or tingling sensation as the light pulses are applied.
After Treatment
Some temporary redness is typical and expected. Short term initial darkening of the age or sun spots is also typical and considered a good response. This is the pigment breaking down. It then flakes off in the days to follow.

Multiple treatments
Like most things with the body, multiple treatments are needed to achieve optimal results. A typical series consists of 3-5 sessions about a month apart.
