Tattoo Removal and Swimming

Summer is fast approaching and with it comes swimming pools and trips to the lake. Keeping cool in the Texas heat is important, but after laser treatments, care must be taken.

The biggest risk with laser tattoo removal treatments is secondary infection. Soaking the treated area in a swimming pool, lake or even the bathtub can increase that risk. The treated area should not be soaked for the first two or three days and longer if you have any active scabbing or blistering. It’s not that we don’t want you to enjoy your summer; rather we want you to see the best results with the least discomfort possible. Taking care of your tattoo after laser treatments is one of the easiest ways to ensure great results from your treatments.

Once your tattoo is healed, free from active scabbing and blistering, enjoy your trips to the lake and pool, but remember sunscreen. That treated tattoo will have brand-new sensitive skin on it and will be quite susceptible to burning.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact the office at 817-585-4100. Our certified laser specialists are always happy to answer your questions.
